Not much going on.  Apparently, not much going on with anyone.  Xanga pickin's are slim.  In an effort to at least refresh my own page's offerings, let's see what I can come up with to post....

We took T to the doctor yesterday, certain that there must be something going on with her that was making her: pull at her ears (surefire ear infection symptom, yes?), not sleep at night, not eat her baby food any more, have a slimy nose, sound hoarse when she cries, and just generally be a crab.  His official diagnosis: nothing.  He couldn't find anything wrong with her.  Just told us that lots of babies enter a phase like this at 4-7 mos where they get fussy for no apparent reason, and that teething wasn't helping.  Hmm.  I'm reassured but frustrated.  We did learn that she's now up to a whopping 17 lbs.  That's right, only 8 lbs behind her big sis.  Here is, in my opinion, a particularly adorable picture of her (it's from a couple weeks ago, but still counts, right?):

I schwacked my hand against the doorway of our laundry room the other day, gouging my wedding band into my skin and causing a nice little gash.  So in an effort to let it heal, I haven't been wearing my wedding or engagement rings for the past several days.  It's really weird.  I haven't gone a whole day w/out wearing at least the wedding band since we were married.  I've even gone out in public-- I'm surprised I haven't had single guys just knocking each other over on their way to ask me out, now that my ring finger is bare.  Surely my haggard appearance and the two small children hanging off of me aren't a turn-off?

I'm slowly working on getting my house back in some semblance of order and peace now that the holidays are over.  It's coming around.  But now I'm having the traditional, post-holiday, post-decoration emptiness, gray-winter bleakness feeling of not being satisfied with anything in my house.   Yep, a mere year it's been, and I already want to change everything.  I don't think it helps that my new friend has about a half-a-year younger house and is just now getting around to painting and doing some upgrades, so I'm seeing her doing all this fun new stuff and feeling envious.  I'd venture to guess that she also has substantially more expendable income than we do, so I keep trying to remind myself of that...  I am working on plans to finally do some stuff in our bedroom-- that poor, redheaded stepchild of rooms, that every home decorating show always says you should make beautiful and reflective of yourself, and a sanctuary to retreat to, but which the sad reality is that it's the room you can get away with not doing anything to while you fix up the rest of the house that people other than yourself actually see.  I don't like anything about my bedroom.  I don't like the color, which never came out right according to my original vision, I'm sick of our bedding, I don't have curtains, I still don't have a headboard-- the whole thing is just blah.  My hope is to do some renovating in there in the next couple months... I just need to acquire the funds to do so...

Here are my televisionary (ha!) excitements of the moment:

1) AI is back on!  Woohoo.  I will thus commence with my annual Idol queries and comments:
    - why don't they put a sign on the other door-- the one that they're NOT supposed to exit thru?
    - it's unfortunate to think of all the actually GOOD people who don't get a chance to make it as far as the judges, b/c they have to save room for all the insane people.
    - when do they film that background footage of the people who try out?  Before they see RP&S?
    - when/how do they get that footage of all these contestants, who we previously saw try out with a different song, singing the same song?
    - why can't the universe share the wealth a little bit, and not give the attractiveness and the singing talent to the same people?
    - in the same vein, I will bet that in 99% of the cases you can tell if a chick is going to make it thru just b/c she's "thin, pretty, big t---.  Your basic nightmare."  (bonus points!  Name that movie!)

2) LOST is back in a mere 12 days.  Unfortunately, for a mere 8 episodes, if this flippin writer's strike doesn't get its act together pronto.

3) For some strange (surely strike-related) reason, which I am not going to question b/c I'm psyched about it, Chuck is going to be on next Thursday and airing two new episodes in one night.  Hooray!

Lastly, potty training is going fairly well I'd say, thanks for asking.  If you want the details, L has successfully used the "big potty" at the dr's office yesterday AND in the big scary Meijer AND Kroger bathrooms this week.  She hasn't had a #1 accident the past two days and counting.  And yesterday, I put her in her room for a rest and on a whim stuck her potty chair in there, just in case she felt inspired, and she came out to report to me that she'd gone both numbers in there all on her own.  THAT was cause for celebration in my book.   She is getting much better at telling us if she wants to go, probably b/c she gets a treat if she decides to do so on her own w/out us asking, but I'll take what I can get at this point.  So, we're making progress.  I'm trying so hard to be patient, but I just want this done NOW....

That's all for my report, I suppose.  ttfn.
